Attendance Specialist

Student Attendance Specialist Location: Columbia, SC – 29204. Job Type: Full Time (30 Hours or More). Positions available: 1. Source: Stride, Inc. Website: Remote: Work at home all of the time; hybrid with occasional office time. Responsibilities Coordinate school‑wide attendance efforts and absenteeism prevention programming with a focus on education and intervention. Work with teachers to monitor student adherence to the school’s attendance policies. Email, call, and send auto‑dial notices to targeted student populations. Recommend families to the appropriate administrator for truancy intervention meetings as necessary. Attend truancy meetings with school administrators. Ensure state compliance guidelines are met for student attendance, progress, and system logins. Ensure school policy and state requirements are met regarding all attendance withdrawals. Produce attendance/truancy reports for the school, county, and state as required. Work with the Student Support Team to assist students in situations where referral to service agencies is necessary. Develop individualized action plans with families and teachers to increase student attendance and engagement. Collaborate with the Student Support Administrator, Head of School, and local school board to develop improved procedures addressing attendance. Collaborate with families and student support staff to prevent juvenile delinquency. Develop and implement educational workshops related to absenteeism for school staff and families. Assist staff on projects regarding student attendance/truancy. Minimum Required Qualifications High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) Certificate. Two (2) years of truancy experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to pass required background check. Other Required Qualifications Knowledge of state school attendance laws and other pertinent K‑12 education laws. Knowledge of state‑specific court procedures regarding truancy. Familiarity with online learning environments. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Ability to travel 20% of the time. Desired Qualifications Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, enrollment or truancy role. Post‑secondary degree, especially in Education, Counseling, Human Services or a related field of study. Compensation & Benefits Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel, external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Offers typically fall in the bottom half of the range and anticipate a salary range of $17–$20 per hour. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Compensation is not guaranteed and can vary based on several factors. Elementary School Teacher – K‑5 (Except Special Education) Required Certificates and Licenses: South Carolina Department of Education Elementary School (K‑5) Teaching Certification. English experience preferred. Residency: Must reside in South Carolina. Salary: $55,000 plus performance bonus. Start Date: School Year 2026/2027. The Interventionist works with the “At‑Risk” student population to provide remediation to support academic goals and increase growth. This is a full‑time position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, maintain a professional home office, and travel up to 20% of the time. Responsibilities Modify and/or adapt the K12 curriculum in alignment with state content standards to meet each student’s unique needs. Collaborate with general education teachers to meet the goals of targeted students through individualized and small‑group sessions. Educate parents on various instructional strategies. Ensure implementation of the RTI instructional system to increase student achievement. Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier; use data to help teachers plan whole and small group instruction; provide guidance to teachers on identifying and grouping students needing additional help. Collect and maintain all RTI data (eligible student lists, intervention plans). Serve as a daily resource to school administrators, leadership teams, and stakeholders regarding RTI issues. Collaborate with homeroom teachers, advisors, counselors, and district personnel to coordinate and track Tier2 interventions. Provide ongoing training and support to school/district staff regarding RTI and implementation procedures. Support teachers in documenting student progress. Work with the special education team to facilitate eligibility for special education. Travel up to 20% of the time for professional development, student testing, or other required duties. Special Education Teacher – Middle School Required Certificates and Licenses: South Carolina Department of Education Middle School (5‑8) Special Education Teaching Certification. Residency: Must reside in South Carolina. Salary: $53,000 plus performance bonus. Start Date: School Year 2026/2027. The Middle School Special Education Teacher is a state‑certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance, manages the learning process, and focuses on students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program. Responsibilities Ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team. Communicate with parents and applicable related service staff to ensure students receive appropriate therapies. Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required special education documentation. Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings such as annual IEP meetings. Use resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities (assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, accessible text). Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP. Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom. Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Document all contact with parents and interventions with students. Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed. Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students. Commit to personalizing learning for all students. Demonstrate belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations. Maintain grade book, ensuring academic integrity, student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to performance concerns. Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests. Maintain positive rapport with families and communicate promptly with students, learning coaches, and parents. Support learning coaches and parents with student curricular and instructional issues and basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment that aligns with academy policies and procedures.
