Senior Tax Associate

Shahbaz & Associates is a boutique CPA firm in Fairfax specializing in real estate tax, high-net-worth individual planning, international and cross-border tax, and fractional CFO services. We are structured so our people focus on high-value review, planning, and client relationships rather than bulk production. We are growing, and this seat has a real path toward owning client relationships and fast track to manager role. The role You will own the first-level review for a growing book of real estate and pass-through clients. Day to day you will: Perform the first review of federal and multistate returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, and related forms), catching issues before they reach the partner for final sign-off Handle real estate and partnership work, including allocations, basis tracking, and depreciation Support tax planning and advisory for real estate investors and high-net-worth clients Work directly with the managing partner and grow into owning client relationships over time What makes this different: you own the review, not the data entry. Your time goes to reviewing, advising, and building client relationships, which is where you grow. For the right person, this is a path to senior leadership. What we are looking for 3 to 6 years of tax experience in public accounting Real estate and pass-through (partnership / S-Corp) experience CCH Axcess experience preferred CPA or active CPA candidate preferred Strong written and verbal communication and a genuine interest in client relationships Coachable, ambitious, and eager to grow Nice to have: high-net-worth individual experience, multistate exposure, familiarity with cost segregation or real estate professional status.
