About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Peds) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Surgery - Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of primary circulating Operating Room experience; preferably 2 years of pediatric circulating experience. License: Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated. Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Scrubbing required; experience in the following common cases: pediatric general cases, pediatric/adult ENT, pediatric/adult dental, pediatric urology, pediatric/adult ophthalmology, simple pediatric orthopedic, pediatric gastrointestinal. Description: The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of two years of experience as a primary circulating nurse in the Operating Room. Pediatric circulating experience is preferred. Candidates will be required to scrub during procedures. The department performs a variety of pediatric surgical cases daily. There will be a primary charge nurse on each shift, along with 24/7 house supervisor availability. Operating Room staffing includes one Registered Nurse and one Surgical Technologist for each operating room. The scheduling will consist of four 10-hour shifts with rotational call shifts for nights, weekends, and holidays. There is a requirement for weekend call, rotating every four weeks. Holidays may also involve call shifts as needed. Floating within the department may be required based on staffing needs. The facility provides scrubs, which are not to leave the hospital premises. Orientation will take place with a department educator and focus on department-specific practices, cases, and surgeons. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment, including undergoing a negative drug screen.
