Adjunct Faculty, Political Science

Location Muscatine Community College (30) $700 per credit hour Job Description Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in Political Science. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service, and a commitment to the mission and values of the community college. Courses are held in-person at the college, Mondays & Wednesdays 8:50 am - 10:20 am, from 1/20/26 to 5/15/26. Required Qualifications Master's Degree in Political Science or a Master's Degree with 12 graduate semester hours in Political Science, History, Law (JD), Public Policy, Public Administration, Sociology, and Social Science. Six graduate semester hours must be in Political Science. Community College teaching or training experience is preferred. Preferred Qualifications None specified. Physical Demands Operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs occasionally, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Typical Duties and Responsibilities Teach courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model. Collaborate in the development and revision of curriculum as needed. Meet promptly with scheduled classes. Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings unless excused by the Academic Dean. Assure that student outcomes are achieved in each course. Evaluate and record student performance and achievement regularly, providing feedback. Maintain established office hours and meet with students as necessary. Develop and administer assessment instruments to validate student outcome achievement. Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and grade records of all students. Effectively plan and implement learning strategies appropriate for meeting student outcomes. Analyze results of planning and teaching and make appropriate revisions. Assist college in the recruitment and retention of students. Actively serve as a departmental team member in effecting change fostering continual educational improvement. Maintain currency of professional skills to continually enhance instructional skills. Engage in professional learning activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas. Commit to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders. Complete other job duties unique to your area as assigned by the academic dean.
