General Community Manager

Job Overview As a Community Manager, you will provide strong leadership and management direction on behalf of the Board of Directors and FirstService Residential. This position will oversee the entire operation and consistently adhere to and execute the mission and vision of the Board and the community. It has oversight of all aspects related to the business and operations of the community and is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations, legal compliance, and overall oversight of the association and staff. The Community Manager serves as a single point of contact in the community, enhances communication, and creates effective oversight of staff and operations. Your Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction in the development of short‑term and long‑range plans. Develop recommendations for goals and action plans to achieve Board objectives. Lead annual goal setting. Review organization structure, job descriptions, and functions. Recommend potential changes to the Board. Partner with public, private, and volunteer organizations to provide community services when necessary. Support the activities of the various Board sub‑committees. Maintain knowledge of all Community Governing documents and provide recommendations on revisions. Ensure seamless connection between the Board of Directors and committees. Provide community leadership and guidance to ensure homeowners’ needs or desires are addressed. In partnership with the Board, create or commission creation and implementation of the annual working budget, subject to Board approval. Monitor and report on the monthly financial position of the association. Provide leadership to each Board meeting regarding agenda support and written and oral reports. Summarize meeting priorities with appropriate follow‑up. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all community staff in accordance with the documented management plan, if applicable. Work closely with local emergency organizations to maintain established emergency and community evacuation plans. Confer with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, community groups, and organizations to develop and implement programs to meet community needs. Identify opportunities for improving service delivery and develop new programs, then implement them. Attend and participate in professional group meetings and stay abreast of new trends and innovations in community management and programming. Maintain on‑site visibility throughout common areas and facilities. Ensure adherence to corporate agreements, master calendar, maintenance calendar, association budgets, and subsidy program. Review corporate policies to ensure compliance with civil code, declarations, and other governing requirements. Perform building inspections of interior and exterior property and prepare action plans for identified opportunities. Ensure due diligence to protect client funds, property, and assets against foreseeable contingencies or losses. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus three years of experience in Property Operations, Hospitality, or Construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. State‑specific certifications and licenses are preferable if required. At least seven years of successful community management experience or equivalent, with at least four years responsible for a staff exhibiting diverse expertise, background, and job assignments. Management experience in a small or medium‑sized organization with responsibility for more than one functional department or division is preferred. Understanding of physical building management, condominium law, financial planning, and property‑management laws. Valid driver’s license and state‑mandated vehicle insurance. Commitment to obtain CPM, PCAM, ARM, or AMS designations or equivalent. Talking and hearing occur continuously during interactions with guests, supervisors, and associates. Must be capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Position may alternate between indoor and outdoor environments with variable climate and lighting. Must interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail‑oriented, and exercise sound reasoning. Must handle multiple assignments simultaneously with frequent interruptions and changing priorities while remaining focused and efficient. Must maintain safety awareness and observance of health and environmental concerns.
