The Family Nurse Practitioner (NP) Lead serves in a unique and impactful leadership role within Public Health Clinical Services, combining advanced clinical practice with program leadership to address some of the community's most critical health needs. This position provides direct patient care and clinical oversight for specialized public health programs, including Tuberculosis (TB) Services, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Clinics, and Refugee Health Services, helping to prevent and control infectious diseases, advance health equity, and improve population health outcomes across the community. More than a clinical leadership position, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities by expanding access to care, supporting vulnerable populations, and contributing to initiatives that strengthen the public health system and improve community resilience. As both a clinician and leader, the NP Lead champions clinical excellence, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice while mentoring and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals. This role provides clinical supervision, guidance, and operational support to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants (PAs), fostering a collaborative and high-performing clinical environment. Working alongside physicians, nursing leadership, program managers, epidemiologists, community partners, and multidisciplinary public health teams, the NP Lead plays a vital role in shaping public health strategy, strengthening community partnerships, responding to emerging public health challenges, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and compassionate care to diverse populations across the county. Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ We Require Five years of clinical experience in infectious diseases, specifically STIs, TB & HIV One year of experience supervising, leading, or coordinating clinical staff or providers Family Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Arizona We Also Value Experience in program development, quality improvement, or public health outreach Job Contributions Deliver advanced, evidence-based clinical care to patients at elevated risk for STIs, TB & HIV by obtaining comprehensive health histories, conducting thorough physical examinations, and formulating accurate working diagnoses Provide patient-centered health education and counseling promoting adherence to treatment regimens, preventative health measures, and self-management strategies tailored to individual patient needs. Participate in communicable disease prevention, treatment, and public health response activities as needed Provide clinical leadership by fostering evidence-based practice, collaboration, and continuous professional growth among advanced practice providers. Support onboarding, orientation, mentoring, and professional development of advanced practice providers. Conduct regular clinical consultations, case reviews, and practice support to promote quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices Lead and perform clinical procedures and interventions in accordance with current standards of practice. Ensure patient safety, high-quality care, and compliance with evidence-based clinical guidelines during all patient care activities Maintain meticulous clinical documentation of patient encounters, assessments, and care plans to support continuity of care, compliance, and quality assurance Prescribe and manage in accordance with state and federal regulations, optimizing treatment outcomes while monitoring for efficacy and safety Coordinate and optimize healthcare resources to ensure efficient delivery of patient care, including overseeing interdisciplinary collaboration and workflow management Order, review, and interpret diagnostic studies, including lab tests and imaging such as chest x-rays (CXR), integrating results into comprehensive treatment plans Collaborate with program leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical policies, procedures, and workflows. Monitor quality indicators and support quality improvement initiatives across TB, STI, and Refugee Health programs Participate in chart reviews, clinical audits, peer review activities, and risk management efforts. Assist with development and implementation of clinical protocols aligned with local, state, and federal public health guidance Respond to Public Health emergencies and serve as the on-call provider as needed.
