Environmental Service Spec I Tewksbury Hospital, under the Department of Public Health (DPH), a 370 Joint Commission accredited hospital, is hiring EVS Hospital Cleaners for the Environmental Services Department. This full‑time position requires 40 hours per week, working 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift. Days off alternate weekends, and other days off vary within the week. Duties and Responsibilities Perform day‑to‑day housekeeping services throughout the main hospital and other campus buildings, ensuring a clean, attractive facility in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Sweep, vacuum, and wash floors using appropriate equipment and supplies. Dust, polish, and wash interior surfaces such as windows, furniture, walls, and ceilings. Clean toilets, lavatories, washrooms, janitor closets, patient rooms, and other areas to maintain appearance and hygiene. Conduct precaution room cleaning (including COVID), discharge cleaning, and terminal cleaning, including all furniture and surfaces, and perform bedmaking as assigned. Remove and rehang window treatments, privacy curtains, and shower curtains. Distribute clean linen and transport soiled linen. Empty and relines trash receptacles, handling all types of waste safely and properly (regular, medical). Lift and move activities such as moving office, patient‑care unit furniture, tables, beds, file cabinets, desks, and other items. Arrange and prepare conference rooms and other areas as required by the facility. Perform floor stripping/refinishing, upholstery shampoo/cleaning, and use the Kiavac machine as assigned. Assist with any other related assignments necessary to meet the facility’s operational needs. Required Qualifications Ability to follow oral and written instructions and directions. Talent for establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships and dealing tactfully with others. Physical stamina to stand, walk for prolonged periods, and lift/carry heavy objects. Preferred Qualifications Language skills allowing two‑way communication, effective patient service, and coordination with other patient‑care team members. Prior experience providing cleaning or housekeeping services. Benefits and Salary Salary ranges from $41,385.76 to $52,334.62 per year, based on experience and education, and aligns with the internal compensation structure.
