Overview Assists skilled laborers and crewmembers with street maintenance, electrical and plumbing work, and other maintenance and repairs for the City. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs routine manual labor involved in the maintenance of the City creeks, street paving and street maintenance activities, and electrical and plumbing work. Assists with traffic control and direction. Cleans roads by picking up debris and tree limbs, etc.; maintains storm sewers and sidewalks; assists in repairing and cleaning storm drains. Performs ground maintenance by using weed eater, yard tools, and gas mower; cleans and maintains creeks and roads passageways; maintains storms sewers and sidewalks. Assists in the maintenance and repair of HVAC units. Cleans and maintains proper functionality of tools and equipment. Performs related work as required. Work Environment / Conditions and Physical Demands Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures: Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Work Environment Locations Position will require the employee to work in the following types of work environments: Office or similar indoor environment Outdoor environment Street environment (near moving traffic) Construction site Confined space Vehicles Warehouse environment Exposures Position will require the employee to be exposed to the following environmental elements: Seldom Extreme cold (below 32 degrees) Communicable diseases Fumes or airborne particles Toxic or caustic chemicals or substances Sometimes Individuals with known violent backgrounds Moving mechanical parts Frequently Individuals who are hostile or irate Often Extreme heat (above 100 degrees) Loud noises (85+ decibels such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, construction) Travel Position will require the employee to travel. Never: Regional travel National travel International travel Frequently: Local travel Required Education and Experience At least eighteen (18) years of age. Required Licenses or Certifications Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
