HR Operations Manager

Description $135,000–$150,000/year | Full-Time | Petaluma, CA Hybrid Available (3 Days Onsite, 2 Remote) About the Role: Muir Wood is seeking an HR Operations Manager to help build the people infrastructure behind our growing, multi-site organization. This is a hands‑on role for an HR operations leader who enjoys building—creating smarter processes, strengthening systems, and making work easier and more reliable for employees, managers, and the HR team. You'll partner across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Talent Acquisition, and Front‑line Teams to improve how work gets done at every stage of the employee lifecycle. Why Join Us: Real ownership to build and scale HR systems and processes—not just maintain them Hybrid flexibility (3 days onsite, 2 remote) Full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) + match, PTO High‑visibility role partnering with leaders across the organization with the opportunity to grow with the business Mission‑driven culture supporting behavioral healthcare for teens and families What You'll Do: Assess HR processes and redesign scalable and sustainable workflows across the employee lifecycle, onboarding, job changes, leaves, and offboarding, Develop clear SOPs, process maps, and service standards; reduce manual workarounds through automation Serve as owner and subject matter expert for HRIS and HR technology—optimizing workflows, integrations, permissions, and reporting Troubleshoot system issues with internal teams and vendors; support new HR technology implementations Improve HR data accuracy through recurring audits and quality‑control processes Build and maintain workforce reports, dashboards, and HR operational metrics to track and support improvement over time Strengthen handoffs among HR, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Finance, IT, and Operations Build processes that support compliance, strong documentation, audit‑readiness, and growth Lead cross‑functional process‑improvement initiatives, bringing the right stakeholders together Lead and develop one HR Operations team member; set priorities, expectations, and service standards Requirements What We're Looking For: Must Have: 5+ years of progressive HR experience with responsibility for HR operations, HRIS, or process improvement Demonstrated experience building, redesigning, or significantly improving HR processes Strong HRIS experience: workflows, reporting, data management, and system optimization Strong analytical, process‑mapping, problem‑solving, and project‑management skills Ability to lead projects from problem identification through implementation Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred: Prior people‑management experience Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or another multi‑site regulated environment Experience partnering closely with Payroll, Finance, IT, and Talent Acquisition Experience implementing or significantly optimizing an HRIS Prior consulting experience Who Will Be Successful Here: You build structure where it doesn't yet fully exist You notice gaps and take initiative to understand and solve them You move comfortably between strategy and hands‑on execution You improve a process without making it unnecessarily complicated About Muir Wood: Muir Wood provides trauma‑informed, relationship‑centered residential and outpatient treatment for teens ages 12–17 across multiple California campuses.
