Core Assembler

Job Title: Mechanical Assembler – Industrial Radiator Cores (Weekend Shift) Job Description

This role focuses on assembling the cores of industrial radiators in a busy fabrication and assembly shop. You will operate machinery, handle metal components, and work closely with a teammate to build high-quality radiator cores used in warehouses, production facilities, and data centers. The position offers a weekend shift schedule with paid training on a weekday shift to ensure you are confident and safe in all core assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Assemble the cores of industrial radiators in the core assembly area according to established procedures and quality standards.

• Operate a slitting machine by loading spools of various metals, monitoring operation, and ensuring the machine runs smoothly without jamming.

• Work in teams of two to assemble radiator cores, using a handle to insert metal pipes through core sheathing accurately and efficiently.

• Read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings to ensure correct measurements, alignment, and component placement.

• Use power tools and hand tools safely to support core assembly and related mechanical tasks.

• Measure materials and components accurately using a tape measure to maintain precise dimensions and tolerances.

• Handle and move materials and components using an overhead crane where required, following all safety guidelines.

• Support solder dipping of cores in the warm core area, following safety and quality procedures to ensure durable, leak-free assemblies.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, contributing to a tidy and efficient assembly and fabrication shop.

• Collaborate with the Assembly Supervisor and team members to meet production targets and support evolving product lines, including radiators for data centers.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of assembly or machine operation experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or similar environment.

• At least 1 year of experience using power tools safely and effectively.

• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for measuring materials and components.

• Mechanical assembly skills, including working with metal components and fittings.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.

• Experience using or working around an overhead crane in a shop environment.

• Comfort working in a warm, non-temperature-controlled production area.

• Strong teamwork skills, including the ability to work in pairs on shared assembly tasks.

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality in all aspects of assembly work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a mechanical assembler in an assembly and fabrication shop.

• Familiarity with industrial radiator or heat exchanger assembly processes.

• Experience working on weekend shifts or extended shifts in manufacturing.

• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and safety procedures.

• Willingness to train on a weekday first or second shift prior to transitioning to the weekend shift.

• Comfort working with soldering processes or heated materials in a production environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in an assembly and fabrication shop that builds industrial radiators for warehouses, production facilities, and data centers. You will initially train on a first or second shift during weekdays, then transition to a weekend shift schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., working 36 hours and being paid for 40 hours with a shift premium applied to weekend hours. The facility is clean and organized but not temperature controlled, so it can become hot in the summer, especially in the core area where solder dipping of cores takes place. You will work with equipment such as slitting machines, overhead cranes, power tools, and measuring tools like tape measures, following safety practices throughout your shift. The position reports to an Assembly Supervisor and operates in a production-focused environment that values efficiency, quality, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of KENOSHA, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
