Job Summary Operates imaging equipment and performs routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians according to established standards and practices in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. Job Responsibilities Performs imaging procedures using appropriate technical and safety methods as requested by a licensed physician. Exercises judgement in selecting and computing settings for each patient. Develops an appropriate procedure/treatment plan. Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established protocols and guidelines. Completes documentation as required to comply with policies and procedures. Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Participates in departmental performance improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards and collects quality data for monitoring. Completes assigned goals. Performs other duties as assigned. Specifications Experience: Experience obtained through the completion of an Ultrasound program (minimum). Education: Completion of a formal education program in sonography accredited by ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI. Associates degree in a related field (minimum). Training: (None specified). Special Skills: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of imaging principles/theory, uses the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures, follows written and oral instructions, and plans and organizes work. Licensure: Registered by ARDMS, ARRT (S), ARRT (VS), ARRT (BS), or CCI RVS; BLS certification within 14 days of hire; new graduates obtain required registry within 120 days as required; state license as required. Reporting Relationships Does not formally supervise employees. Functional Demands Medium functional demands rating. Requires lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, and occasional climbing. Physical activities include sitting occasionally, standing continuously, walking continuously, bending, twisting, reaching, and carrying continuously. Work Environment Anticipated exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, airborne communicable diseases, and radiation.
