Job Title: Mixer Operator – Glues and Sealants Manufacturing Job Description

This role operates industrial mixing equipment to produce glues and sealants used in commercial and residential windows. You will follow detailed batch tickets, handle raw materials with a sit-down forklift, perform basic math conversions, and use a computer system to document production and quality checks in a fast-paced chemical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial mixing machines to produce glues and sealants according to detailed batch tickets.
• Print batch mixing tickets and review instructions to determine required materials, quantities, and process steps.
• Use a sit-down forklift to travel to the material staging area and pull the correct raw materials for each batch.
• Lift and handle bags and containers weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times per batch as you stage and load ingredients.
• Transport collected materials by forklift to the mixing machine and add ingredients in the proper sequence and amounts, following the batch ticket precisely.
• Monitor the mixing process to ensure ingredients are properly blended and the machine runs safely and efficiently.
• Prepare four 50-gallon drums using a forklift to position them correctly to receive finished product from the mixing machine.
• Fill drums with finished glue or sealant, then move full drums via forklift to the designated shipping or staging area.
• Complete production documentation in the computer system, accurately entering batch data, quantities, and process details.
• Perform and sign off on required quality checks to verify that each batch meets specifications before release.
• Complete ticket orders in the system for each batch and ensure all required information is recorded and closed out.
• Follow the full batching process multiple times per shift, typically completing two batch orders per shift.
• Work safely around moving machinery, forklifts, and industrial equipment, following all plant safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper staging of materials and safe storage of finished product.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors as needed to coordinate production flow and address any issues that arise.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of manufacturing experience in an industrial or production environment.
• Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a busy production or warehouse setting.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds repeatedly during a shift and handle heavy materials safely.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to perform measurements and conversions using a calculator.
• Ability to move at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to follow batch tickets, safety instructions, and documentation requirements.
• Strong multitasking skills to manage batching, machine operation, material handling, and documentation simultaneously.
• Comfort using computers to log production data, send emails, and navigate basic software systems.
• Willingness to train on day shift (6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) for approximately 1–3 months before moving to the regular shift, depending on individual progress.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with chemical mixing or batch processing in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior machine operation experience in an industrial setting.
• Material handling and picking experience in a warehouse or production facility.
• Familiarity with SAP or other inventory or production systems is preferred, but not required.
• General mechanical aptitude and comfort working around industrial machinery.
• Willingness to learn new systems and processes with training and support.

Work Environment

This position is based in a chemical mixing plant with a busy, industrial atmosphere. You will work around large mixing machines and frequent forklift traffic, so awareness of your surroundings and adherence to safety procedures are essential. The role involves continuous lifting of heavy materials, typically 50–75 pounds on a regular basis. The facility can become very hot, especially during the summer months, and there is no air conditioning, so you must be comfortable working in high temperatures. Noise levels are elevated due to running machinery and moving equipment. A long-sleeved shirt is mandatory every day regardless of the heat, and appropriate industrial work attire is required. The regular schedule is a 2nd shift, 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, with initial training typically conducted on 1st shift (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) for about 1–3 months, depending on how quickly you learn the process.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
