Job Description​The Division of Anesthesiology at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is excited to welcome a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist to its highly respected Cardiac Anesthesiology section. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, collaborative team within a thriving department of more than 170 anesthesiologists, intensivists, CRNAs, AAs, residents, and advanced practice providers across the system.About the position Full-time CVOR opportunity featuring a high-volume, highly complex cardiothoracic case mix, including heart and liver transplantation, mechanical circulatory support (including LVAD implantation), aortic reconstruction, TAVR, structural heart interventions, CABG, valve procedures, esophageal surgery, and other advanced thoracic and major vascular casesThe successful candidate will practice exclusively within the CVOR at Mid America Heart Institute (MAHI), a specialized freestanding cardiovascular center located within Saint Luke's HospitalDue to the robust cardiac surgical volume, this position is primarily dedicated to cardiac anesthesia, with only limited assignments outside the CVOR in the Main ORMid America Heart Institute is nationally recognized as a leader in cardiovascular care and performs more than 1,600 cardiothoracic, vascular, and hybrid procedures annually, making it one of the premier heart programs in the countryThe program performs more than 700 cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) cases annually, with volume projected to exceed 800 CPB cases in 2026, and supports approximately 40 to 50 heart transplants and 30 liver transplants each year, all performed within the cardiovascular operating roomsDedicated CVOR home call is separate from Main OR, trauma, and OB call responsibilities; home call coverage includes cardiac surgery, heart and liver transplantation, and all vascular surgery casesOpportunities for clinical research and academic collaboration are available through MAHI's Outcomes and Research Division for candidates with an interest in scholarly activitySaint Luke’s Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for UMKC School of Medicine and offers academic appointment opportunities through its ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency program, with senior residents rotating through the CVORSaint Luke’s has an extremely competitive career employment package that includes a guaranteed salary & excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, malpractice insurance, tax-deferred retirement plan with employer match, paid time off, and a generous CME allowance Requirements: Candidates should be in the process of completing or have completed a cardiac anesthesia fellowship; those who have finished training should demonstrate recent cardiac anesthesia experience.
