Charge Auditor - Surgery Dept PT20 Days

$25.30 - $37.95 Major Responsibilities:
Responsible to Surgical Services Department Heads and Business Manager in ensuring all appropriate patient charges are accurately processed using a working knowledge of the Surginet System
1)Ensures that patient billing for all Surgical procedures are accurate and processed within three business days.
2)Monitors and enters all implant billing to assure accurate patient charges.
3)Assist in developing and maintaining all surgical supply charges in coordination with Materials Manager, Business Manager, and Surginet Information Systems.
4)Surgical chart auditing for correct documentation and charge entry.
Knowledge and Maintenance of Surginet software including compliance from a regulatory billing perspective
1)Obtain and maintain an excellent working knowledge of Surginet system
2)Obtain and maintain knowledge of the systems reporting capabilities for running reports as required and/or requested including the ability to run non-standard reports.
Provide proactive audits of the Surginet system.
1)Completes audits focusing on charge capture and compliance as well as revenue opportunities
2)Coordinates collaboration with Clinical Managers and Surgical Services Leadership to assure staff compliance with identified patient charting discrepancies.
3)Reviews free text items with Clinical Manager and Surgical Services Leadership to increase nursing charting compliance and accurate billing on an ongoing basis.
Collaborates with Patient Accounts to maintain working knowledge of CPT, APC's and pass-through codes
1)Knowledge is maintained and kept current to any and all changes and/or updates
2)Assure compliance with all Medicare policies, procedures and regulations
Ensure accuracy of Surginet to Allegra interface
1)Make corrections to charts as required and document changes made
Other duties as assigned Education/Experience Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Knowledge of an automated charge system. 5 years operating room, endoscopy billing or orthopedic billing with surgical product knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Self-directed, minimal supervision required. Good written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Surginet charge capture. Computer skills. Data entry skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
Certificate Medical Terminology Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
1) Excellent interpersonal skills 2) Ability to communicate with surgeons, office personnel, nursing personnel 3) Analytical and problem-solving skills 4) Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work within short timeframes 5) Self-motivated - requires minimal supervision 6) Ability to transcribe medical information
