Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift: Weekdays, 4 days a week, combination of 8's and 12's

Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 40

Call Requirements: Call is required

Licenses and Certifications

• Nevada State RN license required prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Completion of CMP for Pre-op/Recovery RN, PACU, OR, and SDS within 1 year of start date

Experience Required

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Trauma OR setting
• Prior travel experience of one 13-week assignment is required

Unit Description

This position is based in a Level II Trauma OR, which consists of 18 operating rooms. The patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, and common procedures include:

• Trauma
• Neurosurgery (ACDF, spinal fusions, Crani-procedures)
• Da Vinci Xi robotics
• Urology
• Vascular
• Open hearts
• General surgery
• Trauma orthopedics
• Pediatrics
• Minimal plastics and ENT

Purpose

This position provides optimal patient care utilizing nursing knowledge and skills within the context of the nursing process. The incumbent is accountable for individualized patient outcomes throughout the entire episode of care, delivering comprehensive nursing services to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families/caregivers.

Nature and Scope

The incumbent is challenged to diagnose and treat human responses to health problems and must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Consideration is given to the cognitive and psychosocial needs of the patient population served while meeting the standards of quality set forth in age-specific competency standards. The Registered Nurse also coordinates care with other professionals as necessary.

Work Environment

This role requires a high level of mental effort to ensure safe patient care, and the RN will engage with both internal and external contacts, exercising judgment and making decisions in a fast-paced and busy environment.
