Medical Director - Acute Rehabilitation Opportunity in Lewiston, ME - Seeking an MD or DO to provide clinical and administrative leadership for an inpatient acute rehabilitation program- Full-time leadership role within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation setting- Blend of clinical care and program oversight with structured administrative time- Opportunity to shape program growth, quality initiatives, and operational strategy- Collaborative environment with strong interdisciplinary rehab team support Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities - Provide medical leadership and oversight of the acute rehabilitation unit- Deliver direct patient care including admissions, ongoing management, and discharge planning- Lead interdisciplinary team conferences to coordinate rehabilitation care plans- Develop and implement clinical protocols, care pathways, and quality improvement initiatives- Ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards- Monitor key performance metrics including length of stay, functional outcomes, and readmissions- Oversee utilization management and documentation accuracy- Collaborate with hospital leadership on program growth and operational efficiency- Recruit, mentor, and supervise physicians and advanced practice providers Schedule & Expectations - Maintain active clinical involvement in the inpatient rehabilitation unit- Approximately three weeks per month dedicated to clinical coverage- One week per month reserved for administrative and leadership duties- Participate in call coverage as required Requirements - MD or DO from an accredited medical school- Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation preferred- Active or eligible Maine medical license- 3-5 years of inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred- Prior leadership experience strongly preferred- Familiarity with IRF-PAI, CMS guidelines, and inpatient rehab models Compensation & Benefits - Competitive base salary plus medical director stipend- Performance-based incentives tied to quality and growth metrics- Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available- Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits- CME allowance and professional development support Community Highlights - Scenic Maine location with access to lakes, mountains, hiking, skiing, and coastal areas- Affordable cost of living and strong community atmosphere- Easy access to Portland and broader New England region
