Work Environment
You will work at a depot facility in San Francisco, supporting maintenance of incoming autonomous vehicles in a professional shop setting. The role involves operating standard automotive tools and equipment, including tire machines, wheel balancers, and diagnostic tools, while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. The shop emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with clear expectations for maintaining a neat work area and protecting customer vehicles. Multiple shifts are available, including Shift A (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), Shift B (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), and Shift C (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), providing options for different schedules. New hires participate in a structured training process, traveling to Arizona for approximately two weeks to train with a certified technical trainer. Training classes typically include 6 to 9 participants, allowing for focused, hands-on learning in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities
- Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following established company standards.
- Carry out minor repairs and parts replacements on a variety of vehicles.
- Use a tire machine and wheel balancer to mount, dismount, and balance tires as required.
- Follow instructions from lead technicians and shop foreman to meet shop demands, goals, and key performance indicators.
- Communicate with the parts department to identify, request, and obtain required parts for repairs.
- Save and tag parts from jobs when required for warranty purposes or at the request of the technical team.
- Examine assigned vehicles to determine whether additional safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Inform the lead technician promptly if additional work is needed, if work originally outlined is not necessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Document all work performed and all recommended services clearly and accurately on the repair order.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, including required training sessions in Chandler, Arizona.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new procedures and technologies and grow with the organization.
- Inspect and test drive newly delivered vehicles to identify obvious damage, missing major components, and drivability concerns.
- Follow established pre-delivery processes to ensure vehicles meet required standards before release.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the lead technician promptly to prevent downtime or safety issues.
- Ensure customer vehicles remain clean and notify the lead technician immediately if anything occurs that changes the appearance or condition of a vehicle.
- Keep the shop area neat, organized, and clean to support a safe and efficient work environment.
- Maintain accountability for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to their proper place and ensuring they remain in good condition.
- Stay current with and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know requirements.
- Operate all tools and equipment safely and according to established procedures.
- Report any safety issues or concerns immediately to management.
- Meet productivity, efficiency, and other performance metrics and KPIs established by leadership.
- Support other tasks and assignments as needed to ensure smooth shop operations.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an automotive repair shop.
- Hands-on experience with auto maintenance and repair, including basic mechanical work.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and diagnostic testing on vehicles.
- Proficiency in automotive repair, including identifying and resolving mechanical issues.
- Experience with preventive maintenance procedures for vehicles.
- Ability to use a tire machine and wheel balancer safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with lead technicians, shop foreman, parts department, and management.
- Ability to accurately document work performed and recommended services on repair orders.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions and established processes.
- Commitment to meeting productivity, efficiency goals, and other KPIs set by leadership.
- Knowledge of safe operation of tools and equipment in an automotive shop environment.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance related to hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know requirements.
- Experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar automotive maintenance role.
- Background in diagnostic testing and advanced troubleshooting of automotive systems.
- Familiarity with pre-delivery inspection processes and standards.
- Comfort working with evolving vehicle technologies, including autonomous and advanced fleet vehicles.
- Willingness to travel for training and participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs.
