Job Description: Full‑time family shelter building superintendent needed in the Bronx. Background check is mandatory.Note: this is NOT a live‑in super position.The ideal candidate would reside in the Bronx or lower Westchester, have a valid driver’s license, and possess own transportation. Responsibilities Conduct regular preventative maintenance throughout the interior and exterior of the building. Inspect all mechanical systems daily and report issues to management. Ensure adherence to city and state regulations and codes, including DHS, OTDA, FDNY, HPD, and DOB. Assist porters with garbage removal and ensure proper DSNY procedures are followed. Maintain appliances and equipment, and keep an inventory of supplies. Supervise and assist porters as needed, keeping building grounds and common areas clean and safe. Track, respond to, and complete all work orders in a timely manner. Respond to emergencies 24hours a day and be available for occasional weekends. Work hours are 8am–4pm, Monday through Friday, with later hours if necessary. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in multifamily housing or the family shelter system. Expertise in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and plastering. Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus. Proficient in MS Office, especially Outlook and calendar. Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs. Valid driver’s license with own transportation. Professional, patient, polite, respectful to tenants and staff. Fast learner, team player, self‑starter, trustworthy, hardworking, committed, organized, efficient, and detail‑oriented.
