Vacancy for Preservation Digital Imaging Librarian at Yale University Connecticut, United States $70,000-$90,000 Full-Time Reporting to the Head of Digital Reformatting & Media Services (DRMS), the Preservation Digital Imaging Librarian will manage a suite of imaging services designed to meet the Library’s preservation goals and increase online access to collections. As a member of DRMS, the position will contribute to a nationally and internationally recognized program for the preservation of library and archives collections. The incumbent will stay abreast of key trends in preservation, digital imaging practices, and technology, working with staff and experts to build sustainable digital collections for current and future users. The role oversees services including in-house scanning, digital photography, and work with commercial vendors. The Preservation Digital Imaging Librarian will: Direct services and workflows for digital imaging projects and patron requests, prioritizing requests to maximize staff efficiency, creating timelines, and measuring outputs for process improvement. Coordinate with stakeholders, experts, and external vendors to ensure standards are met, and uphold preservation best practices for source originals and digital surrogates. Collaborate with Digital Special Collections & Access (DSCA), public services staff, and subject specialists, to coordinate digitization services for patron and project-based requests. Partner with digitization centers to determine suitable solutions for special collections and integrate preservation reformatting for fragile collections into workflows. Work closely with Preventive Conservation staff, managing incoming and outgoing collections, ensuring conservation recommendations are followed, and coordinating with the Media Preservation Manager to follow best practices for AV formats. Liaise with public services staff, answering questions, setting patron expectations, and evaluating service effectiveness. Supervise staff, including a photographer, digitization assistant, and student assistants, overseeing digital capture, processing, and quality control using various equipment and software.
