Biomedical Data Engineer/Scientist

Salary: $85,000 - 100,000 per year Requirements:

  • We require a bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a masters degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. in engineering, computer science, or a comparable area of study.
  • We require demonstrated software development experience, including designing and/or implementing network protocols, working with OpenGL or DirectX, and interfacing with external devices such as input or measurement equipment.
  • We require experience planning, building, testing, optimizing, and maintaining data ecosystems.
  • We require hands-on experience with MATLAB, Python, TensorFlow, LabVIEW, and SQL.
  • We require experience preparing technical documentation from customer specifications for both software and hardware development, including functional requirements documents, system design documents, use cases, system topologies, test plans, deployment plans, and training materials.
  • We require experience working in a research laboratory environment and strong communication skills.
  • We require experience providing direction and supervising technical staff, including mid-level and junior engineers or computer scientists.
  • We require proficiency in English.
  • We require the ability to work independently, maintain strong attention to detail, show initiative, and manage complex follow-up tasks effectively.
  • We require US citizenship.
  • We require the ability to commute to Wright-Patterson AFB, OH and to relocate before starting work.
Responsibilities:
  • We develop custom software applications for live-streaming data, biomedical data processing, data visualization, and other specialized software capabilities, including enhancements to existing tools.
  • We manage and maintain software licenses used in the research laboratory, such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, JMP, and TEMA.
  • We perform detailed system analyses of research objectives and workflows to translate them into the most effective software solution.
  • We identify issues clearly, communicate them effectively, and apply corrective actions or mitigation steps to support research project execution.
  • We participate in statistical analysis and develop mathematical algorithms to address problems in behavioral sciences, human physiology, engineering, and physics, including multi-body kinematics and nonlinear analyses.
  • We contribute to the planning, building, testing, optimization, and upkeep of data ecosystems.
  • We write technical documentation based on customer specifications for software and hardware development, including functional requirements documents, system design documents, use cases, system topologies, test plans, deployment plans, and training materials.
  • We work in a research laboratory setting and collaborate closely with others while maintaining strong communication with the team.
  • We provide direction and supervision to other technical staff, including mid-level and junior engineers or computer scientists.
