Role Description The Accounting Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Brookhaven, NY. This position is responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and assisting with the production of timely and accurate financial statements. Day-to-day tasks include reconciling accounts, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, and working within accounting software to ensure data integrity. The role also involves collaborating with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights, assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities, and helping with month-end and year-end close procedures. The Accounting Specialist will follow established policies and internal controls while contributing to process improvements and supporting audit and compliance needs. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and supporting Finance-related activities. Candidates should possess proficiency with Accounting Software and accurate, detailed Journal Entries (Accounting). Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends or discrepancies. Relevant skills such as knowledge of GAAP, experience with general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation are beneficial. Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical team members. Prior experience in a professional services, engineering, or construction environment is a plus.
