Field Service Technician (Open) Location: Madison, WI – Robertson Rd – Filling industrial Contact Recruiter: Kailee Cooper – View email address on click.appcast.io Responsibilities The (Cryogenic) Field Service Technician contributes to the success of installing and maintaining on‑site nitrogen generation plants and bulk medical or industrial gas systems in a safe, operationally effective manner that complies with all applicable federal, state, provincial and local regulations and Airgas policies. Collaborates on the installation and care of nitrogen on‑site generation equipment. Supports cryogenic bulk installations at Airgas facilities and customer sites. Restores and optimizes pressure‑reduction equipment associated with bulk delivery systems. Evaluates and performs general improvements to electrical systems associated with N 2 generation and cryogenic installations, including motor controls and relays, low‑pressure, high‑pressure and liquid‑level alarm systems. Coordinates the placement of decals and warning signs for proper identification of hazards, warnings, ownership, normal operational settings and emergency contacts. Performs installation of piping systems in alignment with company SOPs. Conducts site surveys to ensure compliance with all federal, state, provincial and local codes. Fosters security by maintaining fencing to protect installations from tampering or unauthorized entry. Performs periodic preventive maintenance tasks on N 2 generation equipment based on the PM schedule to ensure long‑term reliability. Performs annual evaluations of all bulk installation sites to support their condition and correct operation. Champions safety policies and procedures to ensure everyone returns home safely. Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to support typical installations within the assigned customer base. Supports the team in other areas as needed. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Must have, or be able to obtain, a Certified Brazer Certificate within 30 days of employment. Valid driver’s license. Minimum of two (2) years of industrial field service experience, preferably in gas generation systems. Detailed understanding of NFPA 99 and NFPA 55 requirements. Hands‑on experience with cryogenic equipment, pressure piping and compressors. Proven ability to troubleshoot system problems. Ability to perform regulator repairs, repair piping/liquid leaks, etc., is a plus. Ability to read blueprints, design specifications, manufacturer drawings and safety data sheets. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong communication skills for explaining information to customers and employees. Time‑management and goal‑setting skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Independent judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations. Self‑motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and teamwork. Preferred HVAC or refrigeration certification or ASSE certification. Medical Gas credentials. Prior electrical experience. Welding or brazing experience (specifically silver brazing). Ability to respond to emergencies 24 hours per day; arrangements for coverage when the technician is unavailable.
