Payroll Specialist

RemX is hiring a Payroll Specialist for a respected Knoxville-area employer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.


Location : Knoxville, TN 100% onsite


Pay Rate: $25.00 - $26.00 per Hour
Hours : Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Type: Temp-to-Hire


As a Payroll Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting payroll operations for a large employee population across multiple states.


Responsibilities include:

• Process payroll from start to finish while ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Review payroll data, earnings, deductions, and employee records for completeness
• Research and resolve payroll questions from employees and management
• Assist with payroll audits and identify opportunities to improve processes
• Support compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Prepare payroll-related reports for leadership and accounting teams
• Handle wage garnishments and other payroll adjustments
• Coordinate special payments, bonuses, and off-cycle payroll activities as needed
• Partner with internal teams to ensure payroll information is accurate and up to date

• 5+ years of payroll experience
• Recent experience processing high-volume, multi-state payroll
• Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience with ADP and payroll systems; WinTeam experience is a plus
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional business or accounting education is a plus
