Substation Project Manager

Location: Au Sable Forks, NY About the Opportunity An established and growing electrical infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Substation team based in Clifton Park, NY. This is an excellent opportunity to lead complex substation construction projects for utility and energy clients while joining a company with a strong project pipeline and clear opportunities for career progression. The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from pre‑construction through closeout, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Manage multiple substation construction projects from award through final completion. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utility representatives, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. Monitor project costs, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Lead subcontractor selection, contract administration, and change order management. Ensure compliance with company safety standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and project performance. Prepare project reporting, cost tracking, and executive updates. Support business development efforts by building strong client relationships and identifying future opportunities. Mentor Assistant Project Managers and project support staff. Qualifications 5–10 years of Project Management experience within the electrical utility, transmission, distribution, or substation construction industry. Proven experience managing medium to large‑scale substation construction projects. Strong understanding of utility construction practices, project controls, scheduling, and budgeting. Experience managing subcontractors, field teams, and client relationships. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not required. PMP certification is considered an asset.
