Job Description Join our Team at the Department of Veterans VA Medical Center, San Francisco, CA as a Physician - Psychiatrist (Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program)! The staff physician (psychiatry) is assigned to the VA San Francisco Health Care System (VASFHCS), Mental Health Service, providing comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high-quality healthcare to all patients and functioning as a member of an inter‑disciplinary team delivering clinical care at VASFHCS. As a Staff Psychiatrist, the incumbent serves as an attending psychiatrist for the SFVA Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP), providing comprehensive outpatient care within the clinic, supervising and mentoring UCSF trainees, and acting as VA faculty backup for on‑call residents at the SFVA. The position also involves compliance with VA directives, general mental health care for veterans with a wide range of psychiatric disorders (Major Depression, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, other Psychotic Disorders, and Substance Use Disorders), and providing supervision for on‑call UCSF residents. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care to veterans. Supervise and mentor UCSF trainees. Serve as VA faculty backup for on‑call residents. Comply with VA directives and policies. Provide supervision for on‑call UCSF residents at SFVA. Qualifications 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. Board‑certified psychiatrist (required for reimbursement eligibility). Full‑time employment commitment. Compensation and Benefits Expected Salary Range $300,000 - $315,000 (negotiable based on candidate’s qualifications, credentials and experience). Work schedule: 8:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday‑Friday; full‑time; schedule determined by supervisor. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign‑on Bonus): Authorized. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, plus a possible 5‑day CME paid absence). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long‑term care (many federal programs can be carried into retirement).
