Diesel Technician

Position Description Ryder is hiring a Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Houston, Texas. The position offers weekly pay, state‑of‑the‑art diagnostics and tools, and excellent benefits. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay: $29.55 per hour Certification bonus: $100 per new ASE certification, up to $700 Quarterly bonus: up to $500 each quarter Schedule: Sunday–Thursday (Second Shift 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm) Medical, dental, vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, boot allowance Paid training Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year Veteran extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or preferred technical certifications Basic tools required Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines: routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), at least 2 years of combined training and work experience (preferred) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Must obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire, pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background & motor‑vehicle check Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance, component inspections, and preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer as applicable Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints Use shop management system and electronic documentation Work in compliance with federal, provincial and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support) EEO Statement Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace.
