About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on a 26-bed mixed acuity PCU/Stepdown unit serving surgical (GI, Ortho, Trauma, GYN/ONC), sickle cell, and general medical patients
• Manage a patient assignment of 1:4-6, collaborating with LPNs and CNAs to deliver safe, coordinated care
• Perform and manage clinical skills including blood administration, skeletal and buck's traction, wound care, wound vac management, drains (JP, CT), heparin and insulin drips, high-flow oxygen, stable BiPAP, and PCA pain management
• Utilize Cerner EMR, Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitoring systems
• May be responsible for lab collections depending on phlebotomy staffing availability
• Float to mixed acuity areas as needed; participate in every other weekend rotation and holiday scheduling per facility expectations

• Active RN license applicable to the state of practice
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required (3 years preferred)
• Experience must include stepdown, telemetry, or care of patients at a higher acuity level than general Med/Surg (e.g., floated to PCU with patient assignment)
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS
• Must be comfortable functioning at a Med/Surg to Stepdown level of care

• 3 or more years of stepdown or PCU experience
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Experience caring for oncology and complex post-operative surgical patients
• Prior travel nursing experience in a similar care setting

• Work within a highly collaborative, team-oriented unit culture where nurses, physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff support one another to deliver exceptional patient care
• Access to robust on-unit resources including a vascular access team, remote telemetry monitoring, respiratory therapy 24/7, intensivist coverage 24/7, and dedicated sepsis and rapid response teams
