Step into a meaningful opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, supporting one student in a welcoming school environment near Evanston, IL. This contract position is ideal for an educator with specialized experience who is eager to make a measurable difference in a student’s academic journey.
Begin as soon as possible and continue through May 25, working a flexible schedule that fits your other commitments. You’ll be based in a single school building, allowing you to focus your expertise and build a consistent rapport with your student and their educational team.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum to meet student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction
Core responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to the unique learning needs of your student
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and family members to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Adapt materials and instructional strategies to ensure accessibility and maximize engagement
- Monitor and document progress, making instructional adjustments as needed
- Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in educating visually impaired students
