Engineering Manager or Engineering Senior Manager – Resource Center Operations Manage engineering staff related to Resource Center Engineering and Capital Project Management. Oversee design engineering, planning, and coordination of system improvement and replacement projects for distribution and transmission systems. Ensure governmental requirements, safety and engineering standards, and cost objectives are met. At the Senior Manager level, the candidate will have prior management experience with accountability for developing strategy, allocating resources, and driving cross‑functional outcomes. Day to Day Manage engineers, technical staff, and support staff as required. Lead the development and use of engineering standards, processes, and procedures. Monitor industry best practice, regulatory change, and new product evaluation. Oversee design engineering, planning, budgeting, coordination, and monitoring of large construction projects. Manage the development and implementation of capital construction projects, providing direction to project engineers and construction managers regarding plans, budgets, and schedules. Serve as Portfolio Manager, overseeing capital project management activities of engineering staff and project managers. Prepare and monitor the capital budget for all resource center–based engineering work. Build and maintain favorable working relationships with other utilities, contractors, and governmental permit and regulatory agencies. Respond to inquiries from customers, company personnel, and the public, coordinating resources to resolve issues. Participate in the development and maintenance of engineering standards and specifications. Assist in developing staffing needs and participate in employee selection processes. Analyze costs/benefits, evaluate cost‑reduction and revenue‑enhancement opportunities. Review and approve procedures to ensure safe and efficient work methods. Supervise staff in their assigned tasks, providing training, mentoring, and performance feedback. Support the company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education/experience. Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation preferred. Minimum of 10 years of current experience in gas operations, including at least 3 years in leadership. Knowledge of company engineering design standards and federal, state, and local regulations. Experience in the natural gas industry and pipeline safety regulation highly desirable. Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with the ability to translate technical information into non‑technical terms. Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in PC applications—including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentations. Valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Subject to random drug testing. Benefits Rich health insurance benefits with competitive employer contribution.
