Job Summary HVAC Technician I (Job Code: R30 - BL-HVAC Tech I) at PRIDE Industries. Salary $26.18 per hour. The position is on a federal AbilityOne contract and requires that most work hours be performed by employees with disabilities. Telecommute status: Onsite. Position Summary Under general supervision, the HVAC I technician performs repair, replacement, and installation of HVAC equipment, ranging from residential to light commercial units. Duties include maintaining HVAC/R equipment, troubleshooting refrigeration systems, and ensuring adherence to safety policies. Typical Duties Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC equipment. Cut and bend tubing to correct lengths. Utilize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and refrigeration system skills. Observe and interpret refrigeration pressures and vacuum gauges and adjust controls accordingly. Test joints and connections for gas leaks. Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them. Replace defective controls, fuses, and electrical wiring. Repair and replace residential and light commercial evaporative A/C units. Repair and replace residential and light commercial heating systems. Ensure PRIDE safety policies and procedures are followed. Respond to emergency calls after work hours. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Denotes essential job function. Minimum Qualifications One to three years of field experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment. Ability to use industry hand and machine tools such as vacuum pumps and refrigeration gauges. Ability to read, interpret, and work from schematics and written instructions. Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting (single‑phase and three‑phase motors, compressors, contactors, relays, and sensors). Education Requirements Not applicable. Certificates Required EPA certification. R410A safety certification. Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements Maneuvering to, in, and around equipment. Bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching. Climbing steps, tools, or ladders. Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 35 lbs. Climbing ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment. Work Environment Work is performed at customer locations in offices, shops, warehouses, or outdoors. Employees may drive to and from sites and work in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facilities. Exposure to hazardous or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise, and varying weather conditions (wind, rain, cold, heat) is possible.
