Research Technician I (Bornhorst Lab)

This position is located in the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center. Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated research technician to work on projects related to central and peripheral nervous system tumors, including brain tumors and peripheral nerve sheath tumors. The candidate will primarily assist with experiments studying the effect of different drug interventions on tumor growth in a mouse model and will contribute to the general management and daily operation of the lab. Responsibilities Animal experiment: animal handling (newborn mice and rats), feeding pups via an oro‑gastric tube, observation of the pups, and collection of intestinal tissue. Routine, general lab work: solutions preparation, animal formula preparation, autoclaving lab ware, sterilizing instruments, keeping the bench clean, cleaning objects used for experiments, and disposal of waste. Data collection, timely sample processing, and storage. Willingness to learn, improve, and develop new techniques. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. One to two years of laboratory experience preferred. Skilled hands, detail oriented, and well organized. Ability to communicate effectively, work independently and under supervision, and function as a research team member. Experience with mouse handling, breeding, genotyping, sample collection from mouse experiments, oral gavage, and IP injections. Education & Pay Pay Range: $18.00–$27.00 hourly. The pay range indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position and is regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
