Use your passion for creativity and support to make a positive impact in the school setting as an Art Therapist working with students in a welcoming and enriching environment. This contract role offers hands-on experience providing therapeutic services to students within a supportive district from August 19th through June 4th. Serving various sites, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work directly with a caseload of approximately 15 students, helping them navigate challenges and develop self-expression through the arts.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid State Licensure through the MD Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists (required)
- Background or training as a School Therapist or Art Therapist, with relevant experience preferred
- Enthusiasm for supporting student mental health and growth through art-based interventions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, counselors, and families
- Compassion, adaptability, and a student-centered approach to therapy
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individual and small-group art therapy sessions to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with school faculty and support staff to identify goals and track student progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district and professional guidelines for therapy services
- Offer insights and recommendations to school teams as needed
- Provide services on-site at designated school locations within the district during part-time hours (20 hours per week, between 8am and 4pm)
