THE DEPARTMENT:

The City of South San Francisco has 85sworn and 35 civilian positions. The Department’s philosophy is one of participative management, with a high degree of emphasis on training and education. It employs team and community-oriented policing and problem-solving concepts and recognizes the importance of staying contemporary with technological advances. IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Will display unquestionable integrity, reliability, and judgment. Have a service orientation with an understanding of community-oriented policing and problem-solving concepts. Be motivated and have the ability to work independently or in groups to achieve common goals. Accept and adapt to technology in the work environment. Skilled in using and carrying firearms.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Experience Actively employed by a California Law Enforcement Agency as a Peace Officer within the last twelve months. Requires successful completion of probation and possession of POST Basic Certificates. Training Graduation from a U.S. High School or the equivalent, with additional education at the community college level preferred. Licenses/Certificates Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, appropriate California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record, which must be maintained as a condition of employment. Other requirements Minimum of 21 years of age at time of examination and must meet standards of adequate physical stature, endurance and agility.

THE SELECTION PROCESS:
