Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Kaiser Permanente is seeking experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientists to support laboratory operations at Harbor City Medical Center. This role involves performing complex laboratory testing, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results, maintaining quality standards, and supporting patient care in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex automated and manual laboratory testing
• Analyze, verify, and report patient test results accurately and timely
• Perform quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, testing methodologies, and technical issues
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and laboratory standards
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory staff
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and daily laboratory operations

Required Skills

• Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
• Current BLS Certification
• Experience performing laboratory testing in at least two of the following areas:
  • Chemistry (Abbott Alinity)
  • Hematology (Sysmex XN-3100)
  • Coagulation (Stago STA-R MAX)
  • Urinalysis (Sysmex UN Series)
  • Blood Bank (Ortho Vision SWIFT)
• Strong knowledge of quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
• Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and resolve technical issues independently
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Reliable attendance and flexibility to support departmental scheduling needs

Employees work with advanced laboratory instrumentation and are expected to maintain high quality and safety standards while collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals.

Schedule & Pay

• Pay: $55.00-$68.00/hr
• Must be flexible to work any 7 days of the week, including rotating weekends
• Available shifts:
  • 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
• Schedule generally becomes more consistent after onboarding

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harbor City, CA 90710.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $68.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
