Job Title Staff Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - General Medicine Department University Hospital | 11 West Doan Hall General Medicine Job Description Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care. Position Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Minimum Education Required Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. Experience in relevant care setting preferred. Additional Information 11 West Doan is a 27-bed unit in the Acute Care Department. We care for a wide variety of patients, specializing in individuals with medical issues that range from acutely ill to long‑term illness and disease management. Nurses work directly with attending physicians to deliver optimal care in a team‑centered environment. The unit is staff‑driven through our Unit Leadership Committee and evidence‑based practices. Staff development and advancement are emphasized. The unit will be moving to our new inpatient tower very soon.
