Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Neuro

Position Information

This role involves delivering quality nursing care to patients in a Med Surg Neuro setting. The focus is on developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and providing comprehensive support to patients and their families.

Shift Details

• Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: As needed

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 17
• Patient Ratios: 1:6
• Equipment: Customary, including IV pumps
• EMR: EPIC

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care by conducting assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans, detailing interventions and objectives tailored to individual patient needs.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families, facilitating understanding of conditions and care processes.
• Monitor and document changes in patients' conditions, reporting to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain a safe and healthy patient care environment in accordance with infection control policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Instruct patients and families on health education and self-care practices.
• Participate in safety huddles and bedside shift reports to promote comprehensive patient care and advocacy.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in nursing.
• Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification (can be completed at orientation).
• Charge experience is preferred or the willingness to learn and assume charge duties.
• Experience with neuro and stroke patients is highly preferred.
• Strong team collaboration skills and effective communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

• Scrub Color: Black
• Compliance with dress code standards is expected at all times.

Contract and Work Requirements

• Contract duration: 13 weeks (up to 26 weeks available upon request).
• Time off: Up to 5 days can be automatically approved within each 13-week contract period, subject to leader approval.
• Weekend work: Expected to work every other full weekend.
• Holiday work: Must be available to work at least one major holiday during the contract period.
