Bookstore Customer Service Associate Position: Bookstore Customer Service Associate (Part‑time, Casual Wage) | Pay: $16.00 per hour | Department: Colgate Bookstore | Division: Finance and Administration | Location: Hamilton, NY About the Position Colgate University is a special place to work with many unique opportunities. The Colgate Bookstore is Central New York's largest independent bookstore, located in a historic three‑story building in the heart of Hamilton. This role allows employees to gain exposure to various University positions and offers benefits such as sick leave, paid time off, free parking, and a University Gate Card for access to fitness facilities, events, and discounts at the bookstore. Responsibilities Work at the register, assisting customers with books, textbooks, gift items, and general merchandise. Stock merchandise, pull textbook orders, and manage inventory. Process transactions through the register and Point of Sale (P.O.S.) system. Handle returns and receive items. Provide excellent customer service in a fast‑paced environment. Work flexible hours, including weekends, as required. Collaborate collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students. Qualifications Strong ability to provide excellent customer service. Flexible schedule and willingness to work weekends. Capability to learn and use P.O.S. and inventory systems. Experience working in a fast‑paced retail environment. Strong interpersonal skills for working with faculty, staff, and students. Physical Requirements Stand for up to six hours at a time. Look at a screen for up to six hours at a time. Climb stairs. Lift up to 30 pounds. Other Information Must be available to work weekends.
