Position Title: PCU RN - Block 1Y/1ST TIMER

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a floating requirement between different units. The role is a block schedule and involves covering shifts every other weekend.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patient status and report any changes to the healthcare team.
• Manage care for patients using telemetry and assist with procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, and social services.

Requirements:

• Experience: At least 1 year of nursing experience.
• CERTIFICATIONS: Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Experience with Epic charting system is necessary.
• Knowledge of specific nursing skills including blood product administration, central line care, and management of dysrhythmias.
• Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:3-4 during day shifts and 1:4 during night shifts.
• A valid and current state nursing license is required.

Unit Details:

• Type of Facility: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
• Patient Age Groups: Adults
• Daily Census: 35 patients
• Number of Beds: 42
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and chest pain.

Work Scheduling:

• Weekends: Required every other weekend.
• Holidays: Must commit to working 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
• Orientation: 24 hours.
