Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team as part of the Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) project, which is a multi-site organization engaged in the design, production, testing, and delivery of advanced training simulators. The successful candidate will:

* Collaborate with multi-disciplined engineers across multiple locations
* Review and disposition mechanical designs to validate technical requirements
* Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied
* Understand and apply ASME Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing principles

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
• Experience with Model Based Design
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability
• Experience implementing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) into designs
• Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS)
• Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
• Experience with machining and all forms of welding processes across design and production
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products

Pay Range
$95,700.00 - $149,600.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
