About the Role:

The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This position focuses on creating a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation, social interaction, and personal growth. The Activity Assistant collaborates closely with residents, clients, or participants to understand their interests and needs, tailoring activities accordingly to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This role requires a compassionate and energetic individual who can motivate and support others while ensuring safety and accessibility during all activities. Ultimately, the Activity Assistant contributes significantly to fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and improving overall satisfaction and happiness among participants.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of recreational activities and group facilitation techniques.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including seniors, children, or individuals with disabilities.
• Physical ability to assist with activity setup and participate in events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a community center, senior living facility, school, or similar environment.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Training or coursework in recreational therapy, social work, or related fields.
• Familiarity with adaptive activities for individuals with special needs.
• Proficiency in using basic computer applications for scheduling and documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and lead a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to the interests and abilities of participants.
• Engage with participants to encourage involvement and provide support during activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all.
• Assist in setting up and cleaning activity areas, managing supplies, and maintaining a safe environment throughout all events.
• Collaborate with other staff members and supervisors to develop new programs and improve existing activities based on participant feedback.
• Document attendance, participant progress, and any incidents, communicating effectively with team members and families as appropriate.

Schedule:

Part-time - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
