Pay: $45/hour 
Per Diem: $875
Work Schedule: 60 hours/week

Job Description:

MMR is seeking an experienced Project Payroll & Timekeeping Lead to provide dedicated oversight of field timekeeping and payroll activities on a large-scale construction project. 

This position will serve as the project-level subject matter expert for timekeeping and payroll accuracy. The primary responsibility is to ensure employee time is captured, reviewed, coded, corrected, and submitted accurately and on schedule for each payroll cycle. 

This is not a standard timekeeper/data-entry position. The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing or auditing payroll and timekeeping for large craft workforces and will provide leadership, quality control, training, and process improvement for the project’s existing timekeeping team.

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide overall leadership and oversight of project timekeeping and payroll activities.
• Review and audit daily and weekly employee time for accuracy and completeness.
• Verify employee hours, shifts, overtime, classifications, job assignments, cost codes, and other payroll-related information.
• Identify missing, duplicate, incorrect, or questionable time entries before payroll processing.
• Reconcile field timekeeping records against employee rosters, manpower reports, transfers, new hires, terminations, and other project records.
• Review payroll exceptions and discrepancies and coordinate corrections prior to payroll close.
• Track payroll corrections through final resolution and maintain visibility of outstanding issues.
• Provide training and day-to-day guidance to project timekeepers.
• Perform quality-control audits of work completed by project timekeepers.
• Identify recurring errors, process gaps, and problem areas and implement corrective measures.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Project Controls, Field Supervision, Human Resources, and Corporate Payroll as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation supporting payroll adjustments and corrections.
• Assist with employee payroll questions and research discrepancies when necessary.
• Provide management with regular reporting on payroll accuracy and timekeeping performance.
• Support project compliance with company payroll policies and applicable wage-and-hour requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll/timekeeping experience , preferably within construction, industrial, electrical, EPC, or similar project environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting a large craft workforce and high-volume weekly payroll.
• Previous experience leading, supervising, auditing, or training timekeepers strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction labor reporting, job costing, cost codes, overtime, shift differentials, employee transfers, and payroll corrections.
• Experience working with electronic timekeeping and payroll systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to identify payroll discrepancies and determine root causes rather than simply process corrections.
• Ability to work effectively with field supervision, project management, HR, payroll, and project controls.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to perform accurately under strict payroll deadlines.
• Ability to establish processes and hold team members accountable to established procedures.
