CASAS and GED Testing – The casual Testing Assistant is animportant part of the Corrections Education team, providing CASASand GED test proctoring for adults in custody (AIC) who participatein the education program at Columbia River Correctional (near thePortland airport). Proctoring experience is preferred, but specifictraining is provided. The Testing Assistant provides front-line services to currentstudents and assists them by providing the necessary materials andparameters in which to complete their test. What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For Typical Duties and Responsibilities Provides CASAS and GED testing for Adults in Custody (AIC) atColumbia River Correctional Institution. Provides approved accommodations for students who need additionalresources for testing according to the Oregon Department ofCorrections Special Education team. Proctors make-up testing for students who were unable to take thetest at the original scheduled time. Maintains records following established guidelines andprocedures. Escalates issues to Testing Lead, Education Coordinator, orEducation Director as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work is performed in the corrections classroom setting, where staffand AIC safety and security is the highest priority. Deadlines andinterruptions of workflow are expected and occur on a regular basis. Qualifications High school education or equivalent. One year of post-secondarycoursework in a relevant field and one year of experience workingin an administrative or other similar environment is required.Experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for thepost-secondary education requirement on a year-for-yearbasis. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: Policies and procedures related to testing, and placement; Assessment and the interpretation and application of testresults; Applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations; Skills in: Problem solving; Good time management; Providing excellent customer service. Ability to: Utilize computer technology and operate a variety of officeequipment; Work with adult learners of various ethnic and culturalbackgrounds; Remain calm in difficult situations and offer viablesolutions; Effectively communicate in oral and written form; Work collaboratively in a fast-changing environment; Follow protocols and escalation procedures.
