Job Title: Specialist, Software EngineeringJob Code : 41023Job Location: Northampton, MASchedule: 9/80 Job Description: As a Software Engineer – Technical Lead at L3-Harris, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of embedded software solutions for our Navy imaging products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of software and hardware components, while also providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.Essential Functions: Design, development, and testing of user interface software in a Linux environment using QT and C/C++.Develop and maintain embedded Linux-based systems, including kernel and driver development.Collaborate with hardware engineers to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration with hardware components.Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and testing procedures.Debug and troubleshoot software issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure product quality and reliability.Optimize software performance and memory usage to meet product requirements.Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards and best practices.Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our software development processes.Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.4+ years of experience in embedded software development using C/C++.Understanding of embedded Linux, including kernel and driver development.Knowledge of video processing, including image enhancement, video stitching, storage and playback.Knowledge of video interfaces and camera control protocols such as GenICam, GigE Vision, and Camera Link.Experience with software development tools such as compilers, debuggers, and version control systems (e.g., Git).Familiarity with hardware interfaces and communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc.).Preferred Additional Skills:Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.Experience with signal processing, control systems, or wireless communication.Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for testing and automation.Experience with continuous integration deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $97,000- $180,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
