About WCA:
Under the direction of the Deputy Labor Commissioner Supervisor (Senior Deputy), the Office Technician (Typing) performs a wide variety of difficult clerical duties involving the administration of the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) program and/or Port Unit administered by the WCA program in order to support the labor code law enforcement functions timely, efficiently, and effectively.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. High-volume fast-paced office that handles wage claims and constantly interfaces with the public. This position is located in the Santa Ana office.
Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.

Works independently performing complex clerical tasks and prioritize tasks in order to process a high volume of correspondence and data entry using various computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
Communicates effectively with staff and the public while adhering to the Department's Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals. Gives feedback and is receptive to feedback.
Ability to perform difficult clerical work; make arithmetical computations; operate various office machines; follow oral and written directions; evaluate situations accurately and take effective action; read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; make clear and comprehensive reports and keep difficult records; meet and deal tactfully with the public; apply specific laws, rules and office policies and procedures; prepare correspondence independently utilizing a wide knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and spelling; provide functional guidance.
