Please let us know if you require accommodations during the interview process.Primary Function: The job of Senior Staff Accountant is done for the purpose of providing oversight of staff accountants; performing various account reconciliations, grant management, and collection and consolidation of financial information in order to facilitate sound business decisions.Requirements:Educational Level: Bachelor degree with Major in Accounting or Finance.Experience: Five or more years of accounting experience.Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilitiesKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge is required to perform advanced math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks using existing skills. Ability is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans.Essential Duties:Attends a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.Collects and maintains supporting documentation for the purpose of ensuring compliance with OMB Uniform Grant GuidanceCompiles financial and statistical data for a variety of financial reports for the purpose of ensuring the district meets all state, federal, and local financial reporting requirementsExamines a variety of supporting documentation for the purpose of ensuring proper reconciliation of various account balances.Oversees a variety of financial procedures for the purpose of meeting the requirements of state, federal, and local funding institutions.Oversees and inputs journal entries for the purpose of ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.Reconciles fiscal information and account balances for the purpose of verifying accuracy of information, maintaining accurate balances and complying with generally accepted accounting practices and procedures.Researches a variety of information and work-related topics for the purpose of ensuring accurate financial analyses and reports for the districtResolves misallocations of expenditures for the purpose of ensuring the relevance, reliability and accuracy of financial information.Reviews financial data for the purpose of ensuring accurate and complete financial reportingServes as a source of information for a variety of internal and/or external stakeholders for the purpose of disseminating information and ensuring compliance with internal controls.Supervises activities of the staff accountants for the purpose of ensuring district accounting practices, processes, and procedures are followed and meet state, federal, and local requirements.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.The Muscogee County School District provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age (40 or older), sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, disability, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
