About This Role

The Shyne School is a private, play based, sole entity, Early Learning school for 1 to 5 year old's in Woodinville, WA on the boarder line of Redmond in a wooded setting.

We are seeking an afternoon Assistant Monday to Friday with Young Preschool 2:30-5:30 PM. This an entry level position with on the job training. We are looking for someone with experience working with children, credits in Early Childhood Education desired. This role supports our Toddler/Young Preschool program. The children are two+ years in the fall and turn three+ by the end of summer.

We aim to provide the highest quality program on the Eastside, exceeding licensing requirements through our participation in Early Achievers. You will work Monday through Friday, 2:30AM to 5:30 PM, assisting teachers who holds ECE degrees.

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

• Maintain an environment for children that is clean, safe, stimulating and are appropriate for each child’s and the group’s developmental level. * Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the school. * Promote healthy eating practices through modeling.

TO advance motor and intellectual competence * Supporting emerging literacy and language development in response to each individual child’s interest through whole language experience. * Use equipment and material for indoor and outdoor play that promotes children’s fine and gross motor development.

TO support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance * Treat each child, co-worker, and parent with dignity and respect. * Help each child to become aware off his/her role as an integral member of a group. * Support a curriculum that reflects the culture diversity of the group.

TO establish positive and productive relationships with families * View parent-teacher relationship as a partnership, focusing on each child’s individual strengths and abilities. * Support and implement hands-on activities that develop self-esteem. * Use and promote positive guidance techniques and a variety of creative and expressive activities. * Address any parent concern in a timely and appropriate manner. Communicate any issues with the Director if necessary or if Director’s support is needed.

To ensure a well-run purposeful program responsive to participant needs * Supervise and implement the curriculum in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the program. * Assist in the observation and documentation of individual and group progress through anecdotal notes, development checklist, portfolio assessments and other designated screenings. * Complete documentation within agency guidelines and time limits. * Complete paperwork required for local, state, and federal agencies.

To maintain a commitment to professionalism * Attend all staff meetings and in-services training. Meet STARS requirements by attending recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth. * Maintaining professional organizations that work for the improvement of early childhood education. * Maintain flexibility and consistency with all staff. * Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, families, and children always. * Relate to families in a positive and respectful manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Child Care Basics* - Free, online training with a three-month timeline.
• First Aid/CPR – reimburse for training
• Blood Borne Pathogens, free online training
• Food Handlers Permit
• Have or willing to take Enhancing Quality of Early Learning, year 1 and year 2, Free online
• 10-hour Annual In-service Training following EQEL, free or reimbursed.
• STARS ID number, Free
• Registered with MERIT through DCYF, Free
• Completed Department of Early Learning Portable Background Card and finger printing, Free.

QUALIFICATIONS

Be professionally prepared to be a teacher for young children. Understand behavior guidance and following the children's lead in learning. In addition, he/she must be able to meet the requirements of the city and state licensing agencies. Must be willing to further your education in Early Childhood Education to meet state requirements for STARS.

Must be obtained before employment:

TB test, Food handler’s permit, Portable Background check and Current vaccines

Credits in or a Degree in ECE AA or BA

More then a year of experience working in and ECE classroom
