Medical Technologist or MLT, PRN, Night Shift, Sienna

Job Summary Memorial Hermann's Sienna Clinical Care Center seeks a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to provide laboratory support at least one day per week. The position requires a 12‑hour shift from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological science (equivalency required for foreign education). Licenses/Certifications: Medical Technologist (ASCP or AMT), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP‑International), Certified CLS (ASCP), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP‑International) CM or ASCP Certification. Certification & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a NAACLS‑accredited MLS program within the last 5 years. MLT (ASCP) certification and two years of full‑time acceptable laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last four years. CLA (ASCP) certification and a bachelor’s degree with four years of full‑time acceptable experience in the same areas within the last eight years. Five years of full‑time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in those areas within the last ten years. Responsibilities Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and corrective actions per policy and procedure. Manages daily laboratory operations, including sample collection, processing, result reporting and distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow. Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimen collection, orders, and result reporting, following laboratory policies and procedures. Complies with laboratory, hospital, and system policies, procedures, and initiatives, and adheres to standards set by TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA. Performs duties to promote quality patient care, customer service/satisfaction, safety, cost efficiency, and the continuous improvement process. Ensures safety for patients, staff, and visitors, and adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary parameters, including time and supply management. Promotes professional growth and development by meeting mandatory/continuing education and competency requirements, and serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff. Displays commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate, personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
