Medical Director – Correctional HealthcareLocation: Doña Ana County, New MexicoEmployment Type: Part-Time / As Required by Staffing PlanWork Setting: Correctional Healthcare / Detention CenterReports To: Program/Contract Manager / HSAPosition Summary: The Medical Director will provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for medical services delivered at DACDC. The Medical Director will ensure that healthcare services meet or exceed applicable NCCHC standards, DACDC requirements, New Mexico laws and regulations, and accepted community standards of care. The RFP requires a qualified physician/prescribing provider and identifies a Medical Director position in the staffing pattern.Key Responsibilities:Provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for DACDC healthcare services.Direct and supervise medical care provided by physicians, NPs, Client, RNs, LPNs, and other clinical personnel.Establish and approve clinical protocols and standards of care.Oversee intake screening, sick call, chronic care, acute care, specialty referrals, and infirmary services.Provide oversight of medication management and prescribing practices.Support 24/7 emergency medical coverage and on-call services.Develop and oversee medical disaster and emergency response procedures.Coordinate with local hospitals, specialists, and community healthcare providers.Review and address serious medical incidents.Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews and quality improvement activities.Support NCCHC and ACA accreditation activities.Coordinate with mental health and behavioral health providers for integrated care.Support telemedicine and specialty care initiatives.Participate in case conferences and clinical meetings.Support re-entry and continuity-of-care planning.Review clinical documentation and medical records as appropriate.Ensure compliance with applicable New Mexico and federal requirements.Required Qualifications:MD or DO.Active, unrestricted New Mexico medical license.Board certification in Family Medicine or another appropriate specialty, as required by the RFP/staffing plan.Current DEA registration/prescriptive authority, as applicable.Current ACLS certification as required by the RFP.Experience providing physician leadership in a healthcare setting.Ability to obtain DACDC security clearance and successfully complete required background screening.Preferred Qualifications:Correctional healthcare experience.NCCHC experience.Experience with detention medicine.Experience managing chronic disease, behavioral health, substance use, and emergency care in correctional settings.Experience with telemedicine and specialty referral management.Location - Doña Ana County Detention Center, Las Cruces, NMWork Setting - Correctional/Detention HealthcareEmployment Type - Full-timeAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
