Position Summary The Concessions Supervisor is responsible for ensuring smooth patron service, safety, and overall experience at all events hosted at the Gallo Center for the Arts. This role will assist the Concession Manager on concession operations, sales, maintance and service to all patrons. The Concession Lead will supervise and trains the Volunteer Usher Corps and ensures that patrons receive a professional, welcoming, and safe experience. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, customer service and organizational skills, as well as the ability to effectively motivate and manage volunteers. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Train volunteer ushers in cooperation with the Audience Experience Manager and Concession Manager. Ensure adequate usher coverage for working zones during events Prepare all working zones for performance needs pre and post events Train and implement safety and evacuation procedures. Create a positive, enthusiastic environment, promoting teamwork within the usher corps. Maintain cash handling procedures, including register reconciliation and following in-house policies Provide show notes, maintancence needs and feedback for each performance to the Concession Manager and/or Audience Experience Manager. Ensure cleanliness and organization of all concession working spaces including inventory and restocking Review all show information to ushers prior to assignments. Support usher meetings prior at every performance. Maintain CPR/AED certification, Food Safety Handler’s Card and Responsible Beverage Service certification Conduct ongoing training programs with volunteer ushers, including customer service, register operation, food and beverage service, and quality assurance. Ensure knowledge of the Center, including its history, room locations, and event schedules. Promote and uphold the Gallo Center Customer Service Mission Statement. Address patron needs, resolving conflicts, and maintaining safety protocols General Duties and Requirements Participate in ongoing professional development and self-directed learning as provided by the Company. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at GCA. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time, and prepared to begin their workday. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrivals, early departures, or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and should be avoided. Education and Experience Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Previous experience in restaurant or concession service, customer service, hospitality, or performance environments preferred. Prior experience in emergency procedures, crowd management, or related safety training is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Highly personable with excellent interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate volunteers and staff. Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated technical and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to change and implement new procedures effectively. Team-oriented with strong people-building skills. Able to climb stairs quickly and lift 25-30 lbs. as needed. Preferably bilingual. Previous experience in retail, money handling, or hospitality is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Punctual, responsible, and dependable at all times. Environmental Conditions Primarily works in theatrical spaces, scenic shops, and storage facilities. Requires frequent travel between storage locations, scenic shops, and performance venues. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays based on production demands. Indoors in a typical office environment, approximately ninety-five percent (95%) of the time. Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions. May occasionally move (walk or drive) from one work location to another. Physical Demands Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods. Ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, and climb stairs. Visual Acuity (Far/Near). Regular and Consistent Attendance.
