Automation Technician

Automation TechnicianAs a Controls & Automation Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly of new equipment, including programming PLC and Ladder Logic, robotic programming, and fabrication. You will troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to quality, machinery, and cycle time, and train production and maintenance personnel on the use and troubleshooting of controls/automation systems. You will also perform preventive maintenance on equipment in assigned areas such as Molding, Furnace/Feedstock/Facilities, and Secondary Operations.ResponsibilitiesPerform new equipment builds and assist outside vendors with controls/automation equipment designs and qualifications, including light fabrication, software installs, wiring, ladder logic, HMI, and robot programming.Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment to maintain production operation ability, including adjusting settings, replacing failed sensors, and setting up replacements, as well as troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and control systems.Collaborate with Process Engineering to create new equipment automation parts lists for estimating new automation machinery/processes and document all changes to new and existing equipment.Support the maintenance of automated systems and perform assigned maintenance activities, with sole ownership of assigned department(s) electrical systems under 500V AC & DC monitoring.Work with process engineering to optimize automated process machines operations.Review and set automation safety requirements and make changes as needed to ensure equipment and user safety.Collaborate with outside electrical contractors supporting new circuit/equipment installations and troubleshooting existing systems.Perform other duties as required, such as ordering supplies.Essential Skills5+ years professional experience or equivalent technical training in troubleshooting PLCs and automated systems.Proficiency in controls, PLC programming, electrical systems, and robotics.Experience with Allen-Bradley, Click, Siemens S7 300, and/or direct automation PLCs.Ability to read blueprints and understand P&IDs.Experience with lockout/tagout/tryout (LOTOTO) and machine safety systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to use DMM and other electronic/test and inspection equipment to troubleshoot machines and facilities issues.ITAR Compliant Facility - Must show proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Resident.Why Work Here?Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including medical (HSA or PPO), generous HSA contributions, prescription, dental, vision, short & long-term disability, group life, dependent life, whole life, AD&D, critical illness, accident insurance, hospital indemnity, FSA, LegalShield, pre-tax transit passes, tuition reimbursement, and 401k with generous employer match.
